About us
Since 2019, GARN Europe brings together communities, organisations, and activists to advance the Rights of Nature and strengthen climate and environmental justice across the region.
The Global Alliance of the Rights of Nature (GARN) is a global network committed to the advocacy of the Rights of Nature. The Alliance works with a decentralised structure: regional and thematic hubs coordinate and support the activities of members within a particular issue, area or region. The European Hub is focused on European campaigns and projects.

Our Vision
The European Hub of GARN was created in 2019 after the Rights of the Earth Conference in Sweden. Today, it is a dynamic network that connects communities, organizations, and activists across Europe to advance the Rights of Nature.
We provide a space for cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and collective action, linking grassroots struggles with international advocacy. By fostering collaboration across sectors, we strengthen an intersectional movement that defends ecosystems and promotes environmental justice.
Our members include communities, NGOs, academics, lawyers, and activists united by a shared commitment to recognising and defending the Rights of Nature. From local initiatives to European-wide campaigns, the diversity of our network grounds the movement in lived experience and strengthens its impact across the continent.

Although the European Hub is a diverse network, it requires an anchored association to ensure stability and sustainability. NatureRights, a non-profit founded in 2009, plays this role by providing the Hub with the legal and administrative framework needed to access resources, manage funding, and create a structure that can support interns and workers. Acting as both an advocate and a connector, NatureRights has long worked for the recognition of the Rights of Nature and Indigenous Peoples, from international legal advocacy to grassroots alternatives. As the organisational backbone of GARN and the founding partner of the European Hub, NatureRights ensures that our collective movement has the structure it needs to grow and thrive.
